followの動詞フレーズ
【解説】
先を行くもの(人・者・事)の後ろを、一定の間隔を保って、横道にそれないように進むことです。
類義語のchaseは、「カーチェイス」と日本語ともなっていますが、これはこの距離を縮めようとして追うとい意味です。
followの本来の意味は、「～の後に続く」「～の次に続く」です。
またメタフォーとして、「(規則、命令、習慣などに)従う」と意味で使われたり、Do you follow me?やI can't follow you.と、「(言っていること、話の筋が)わかる、理解する」との意味にも拡大します。
【類義語】 chase
　　The dog chased the car.「犬は車を追いかけた」
【派生語】 follower　名詞「信奉者」　following 形容詞「次の」

皆さんは、日本の文科省の英語教育は高校や大学の入試に役立つものでしかありません。
まあ有名な大学に入学することはいいというとでしかないことに気づくべきです。

当教材に所収されている文例は、アメリカや日本で販売されている英会話の本、あるいは映画やドラマのシナリオ、流行している歌の歌詞からものだ。
何かをgetする、makeする。keepする、takeする、putする、これらが日本の英語発想だ。
　これをもたらしたものは「助動詞は動詞の原形をとる」、「to不定詞動詞の原形をとる」「進行形はbe動詞+現在動詞なり」「現在完了はhave+現在分詞なり」などの説明だ。
しかし特殊な説明は日本の文科省の教育文法以外に世界中を見渡してもまったくない。
これは、明治時代に不可欠とされて英語の書物から西洋文明を学ぶために開発されたの英文読解術だ。つまり「英文読解」のための五文型理論や「単語」「熟語」「構文」を丸暗記する学習法だった。
これが世界に通用しない日本独特のものであり、未だに日本に生き続けている。
その結果、「英会話学習は英語のセリア覚えだ」という常識は日本の英語教育がもたらした非常識だ。
そんな英語のセリフを覚えては忘れ、忘れては覚える無限地獄のような常識に耐えることができる人がいるだろうか?
